For the Baby­girlz staff, the cre­ation of a des­ig­nated Mommy*girlz space, within the mag­a­zine, didn’t come easy.  We fought with the con­cept of giv­ing YOU a space that belonged specif­i­cally to YOU, as a young mommy, because there existed the pos­si­bil­ity of mak­ing you feel alone — dif­fer­ent — iso­lated, from the other girlz.  We want to assure you that is NOT the intent of this space.  While you share the same needs as your baby­girlz peers, you also have needs that are spe­cific to you, in your role as “Mommy”.  This space is our quest to cater to ALL of your needs as you nav­i­gate, and com­bine, the worlds of young diva and motherhood.

There are some who believe that your deci­sion to become a young mother, has to do with one or more of the fol­low­ing reasons:

• Deal­ing with deep hurts
• Lone­li­ness and feel­ing that a child will fill a void
• Inse­cu­ri­ties about who you are as a person
• An attempt to replace the love and secu­rity of a miss­ing father in your life

Whether any of them relate to you, noth­ing erases the fact that, both a brave and chal­leng­ing deci­sion has been made.  You have already, or will bring, a beau­ti­ful life into this world – and that does NOT mean that it is the end of your life – it is all in how you han­dle your situation.

Mommy*girlz will make every pos­si­ble effort to walk this jour­ney with you by bring­ing you sto­ries from girlz just like you, resources, and what­ever other sup­port you need to be successful.
